#11 Diversity Targets

This report (2023) analyzed 1,104 diversity targets within America’s Largest Companies (Russell 1000), revealing that only 103 firms (10%) have clear, measurable diversity goals for (race and gender). The average targets aimed to improve racial doversity by 26%, and 37% for gender, aimed to be achieved by 2025. This presentation shows that while there is momentum, SMART-goals are signifcantly lacking. Underrepresented Minority’ and ‘Women in Leadership’ are the most commonly cited diversity groups in reporting, yet there is still little standardization in how BIPOC representation is defined and measured across companies. The report emphasizes the need for transparency, benchmarks, and alignment with SDGs to drive meaningful DEI outcomes.
